My First Music is a class designed to immerse children ages 0 to 4 in the exciting world of music. As they participate with their parent or caregiver, relationships are deepened in a safe environment of creativity and cooperation. This "Mom and Me" stlyle class incorporates the teaching philosophies of Zoltan Kodaly, who believed that heritage is passed through music. All of our class activities will give you a lot of ideas for home or on-the-go play because you can take music with you, wherever you go.
From birth until the age of eight, children experience what experts call the language/music window. It is during these formative years that children are most susceptible to learn both spoken language and the language of music.
In My First Music we sing and play along to known and lesser-known folk songs to preserve heritage. Fortunately, these songs simple pentatonic melodies are the perfect teaching tool to train children's ears and voices to match pitch and sing in tune. Classical music becomes our playground as we imagine stories with the music. This not only allows our child to fully use their imaginations, but also familiarizes them with some of the word's most important musical works.
Music is the perfect vehicle to teach letters numbers, colors, shapes, patters, foreign language, sign language, stories, and more. Language development is further enhanced by memorizing and chanting beloved nursery rhymes. Through repetition and class structure, students begin to anticipate order and find security in class.
